Student Leadership

Student Government Parliament

There are a number of opportunities for pupils to take on leadership roles at the school. We hold annual student Government Elections. The week-long exercise starts with civic voter education on the qualities and roles of leaders. This is followed by a nomination process, campaigns by the aspirants and then culminates in the election of the leaders. During campaigns, all candidates are expected to present their manifestos to the school. On the election day, the students vote, and the results are tallied and announced in the presence of the aspirants’ agents. It is a demonstration to the children of what a democratic, transparent, free and fair election entails.

As part of our vision, “To prepare leaders for Africa and beyond”, this opportunity gives the learners an avenue to hone their leadership skills. It also provides a forum where representatives raise, discuss and propose resolutions about issues which are important to the learners they represent. During the year that the representatives are in the Student Government, it also boosts their confidence and challenges them to be better citizens.
